The rest of the year was even worse. No decent bands were coming, and certainly not at a decent price. (I love Tegan and Sara, but I am not crazy enough to pay $90.00 for a concert) What happened to the days when you could see a show for under $20 bucks? Sheesh.
Anyways, that is why I say this year is going to be better. It has to! There can be nothing but up from here.
Already this year we have plans to go see two concerts. The first one is an old buddy from my highschool years, The Islands! Formerly known and The Unicorns! I loved The Unicorn's album "Who will cut our hair when we're gone", and when they changed their band to "The Islands" how could I resist following them again?
I have their album "Return to the Sea", but I am sad to say, I haven't listened to any new music of theirs since 2007. I don't even know if their newer stuff is any good! All I know is that they are coming March 5th, and I am going to see them! I remember going to see them for the first time with Andrew Hall and it was a great time. Kevin is going to come along with me this time, and I hope he enjoys it even though it is not exactly his favorite kind of music.
The second concert I am going to see is Van Halen with my dad! I am very excited about this one as well. If anyone really knows me, they'll know my HUGE crush I have on older rock music. All the way from the 60s with the Beatles and the Mamas and the Papas, the 70s with Chilliwack, Rush, and ZZ Top and the 80's with Van Halen. And everything in between! Ride with me in the car for one day, and you will hear non-stop at the top of my lungs singing to every song on 96.3 the oldies station in Edmonton!
I could talk about music forever. And it makes me cringe with I hear groups that become popular like LMFAO. Ugh. Kids these days don't know what good music sounds like.
Anyways, this spring is MY spring for music! We just need to find a few hardcore punk rock shows, and we'll be nicely rounded out for ROCK ME 2012! (that is my new nickname for this year.)
Cheers!
