.yummy sushi and leftover cucumbers.

Well, yesterday was my 25th birthday. A quarter of a century! I don't feel old necessarily, but it has made me realize that the years of my youth and childhood that seemed to pass so incredibly slow are over. Life is starting to pick up and I am afraid of it taking off before I have a chance to do something worth while with my life! I dont want to miss a thing. It suddenly just hit me, that I have friends who now have children who are 6 and 7 years old and it seems like time has passed so quickly. I'm starting to realize that when my dad became a father 25 years ago , that 25 years really isn't that long of a time, and its starting to make me look at older people as my equals. An elderly lady in church told me she used to be so dainty and sit with crossed legs, and the boys would all try to court her. And now she is short, slightly pudgy and cannot cross her legs. But really. It wasn't THAT long ago that she was that dainty girl! Its such a shame that the body dies, but the spirit is young! But in the past few weeks, I have really tried to get to know the senior generations because they are just like me, but in wiser bodies.

I had my birthday party last night. A sushi one! We made and ate so much sushi. It was wonderful! It was a splendid night to be surrounded by friends and family. I received many flowers, heirloom seeds for my new garden, and gardening gloves and hats! I am very excited now to come home from Mexico and start my little seedlings.

Here are some pictures from the night!
Here is everyone rolling out the sushi!

My very first maki roll in the works!
Kevin was the designated salmon slicer.
Voila! I think we did a pretty good job.
It was a lot of fun making the sushi, and eating it. The only downside is I have a HUGE plate of sliced cucumbers that I don't know what to do with. So if anyone has suggestions for cucumber, let me know!
