green beans

we have officially started elliot on solid foods. he has been so interested the past while, but i have been nervous to do it since i hear mixed reviews on when is a good time to start. he has 2 weeks till he is 6 months old, so i am not too worried about it.

i tried rice cereal and he wouldn't have it. haaaated it. but i heard that it doesn't have to be pablum to start so we tried sweet potato before going to the farm for thanksgiving. he liked it okay, but by the time we got back the bottle had gone "bad' in the fridge. (the jar instructions say to only keep the food for up to three days in the fridge. i dont know how accurate that is)

last night we decided to try green beans, and he LOVED them. the only issue is that he really wants to feed himself. so we get a little bit on the spoon and he puts it in his mouth. for the most part he does really well with that method, but then its hard to pry the spoon out of his little hands to put more on it. i just wish he would let me feed him instead.

here are some pictures!

  1. I think we are raising the same kid...expect they look nothing a like. Anderson hates the rice cereal too but likes the beans. I am cheap and mix the cereal with the beans to make it go further. I also think the right time to start solids is when they act interested or 6 months at the latest. We don't need to rush our kids, but might as well take advantage of their desires to learn new things. I also love to see his pictures on facebook he is so cute!
