we've got some catching up to do

1. MEXICO
First things first- Mexico! We just got back from our vacation on Thursday night and despite the wonderful time we had, I am actually glad to be at home. The whole way home on the plane I kept asking Kevin, "Do you think Sofie (our cat) misses me?" He just looked at me and said. "No. Cats don't have feelings". Haha. Whether or not she has feelings, I missed being around kitty.
I don't want to talk too much about the Mexico trip, because we documented it pretty well already on facebook, so if you are interested in how it was, you can just look in the album that is posted. We did have a very good time though, and people keep asking me if we regret staying in a Bed and Breakfast and missing out on the ALL-INCLUSIVE RESORT! EAT YOUR HEART OUT! GET FAT, AND GET A TAN! But really, we are SO glad that we went with the B&B. I think I spoke 10 times more spanish there than I did in the past 3 years combined. The people were so friendly and family orientated. We had one taxi driver that kept chatting and chatting about his wife and daughter and showing us pictures of them, that the drive took twice as long to get home that night. But we loved it. And we loved them. Such FUN people to be around!
One night from our palapa, we heard the sound of a party going on in the town below and we decided to go and investigate. About 5 blocks away we found people dancing in the streets, setting off fireworks and just having a good time! We asked what was going on, and the lady we asked said it was her sister-in-laws birthday party and they invited us to join in the celebrations! What fun! I wish I got a street dance and fireworks for my birthday.
Now we are back to the grindstone and the warmth of Mexico is slowly fading from our memories.

2. The Grindstone
Kevin went back to work directly after we got home, and I, having a bit of jet-lag and a horrible sunburn on my back, I started work today! Its interesting how much work can build up while you are gone. I have been non-stop busy and right now through my lunch break, I am determined to actually take a break (i am known to miss lunch) and take a moment to relax before hitting the endless e-mails and requests that are coming.

3. Spring is coming
Spring IS coming! Despite the snow we have had, and are continuing to have, I feel like spring is really making its way here. I am excited for two different things. One is that we are buying a scooter this week to drive during the summer. Kevin and I will be selling his little Kia Spectra (any takers?) in April and sharing the scooter and my car through the summer. I tell Kevin that I'll take the scooter when its nice and sunny, and he can take it when its raining. I don't think he is too keen on my plan though. We are excited to put a little less gas emissions into the air, and to save quite a bit on insurance! Win-win.
Here is a picture of the scooter we plan on buying this week: Its the Saga Retro, which is just a cheap version of the Vespa.

The second thing I am excited for  is gardening! I have all my seeds purchased, my little containers ready and the soil at hand to start my first little seedlings indoors. I am going to be starting my peppers and tomatoes inside as early as next weekend, and the rest of the indoor starters the first of April. I am very excited to grow my own food and hopefully to can some of it for the upcoming winter. I have plans to turn the little cement pad that is off the side of the garage into a nice sitting place with flowers, a patio table and chairs and lights. We bought this pretty "jellyfish" lamp while we were in mexico, and I plan to have it hanging outside with stringed lights above the patio furniture.

If anyone has any small patio table and two chairs they are looking to sell, look no further! I am trying to find some used ones for purchase.

Anyways, other than going to see the Islands in concert tonight and our tickets booked for the Hunger Games, not much else is going on around here! Keep safe, and keep happy! Spring is coming!
