do you want the good news, or the bad news?
i'll give you the bad news first. then, you can feel better when i follow it up by happy news.
bad news:
today i fainted on the bus! i think everything that is traumatizing in this pregnancy happens on the bus, lets just hope i don't go into labour on it as well. i was standing (as is typical in the morning, and especially when at 15 weeks i dont look the slightest bit pregnant) and then all of a sudden i was overcome by the mixed sensation that i was SUPER hot, and dizzy, and i was going to vomit all at the same time. my vision blurred and then everything went black. as it turns out, i collapsed right on top of the pregnant lady sitting down in front of me. (she is noticeably pregnant and i like to think that her baby provided a nice cushion for my baby) all in all, i am fine. i just had to sit down for a few minutes afterwards and "come to" but i am doing fine! it was mostly freaky, but my midwife tells me it is not uncommon and if i have fainted once, i'll likely do it a few more times before this baby leaves my guts.
good news:
we had an appointment today and i got to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time! it wasn't magical like others tend to describe it. i wasn't full of emotion and my heart didn't pound at the realization there is actually something in there. it sounded like a squishy squish sound. it is what i imagine a jellyfish to sound like moving through the water. so my squishy is just floating along in there. we heard the baby wham up against the uterine wall a few times, so that's good. it already knows how to swim better than me.
we also received our papers to book our mid-pregnancy ultrasound today. we booked it for dec 21st, which means if squishy is co-operating we will know the gender before christmas! we are excited to know the gender especially since we aren't doing presents for each other this year, but maybe we'll go buy a few outfits for babe.
happy american thanksgiving tomorrow to all my bottom dwellers.
dude! do people on your bus know your pregnant? or will they just find out as your belly starts to grow? man. that baby is giving you quite a hard time. it better be cuuute. (it will be, i already know so.)
