happy 9 months, baby elliot!
this boy is BUSY! holy butts. lets see what i can dig up on him the past month.
measurement:
-we had him weighed and measured two days ago when we went in for his second dose of the influenza vaccine. he comes is at 17 lbs 12 oz (10th percentile) and he is 27 3/4 inches tall. so just under the 25th percentile. doing good! his head is still flat in the 5th percentile, but we have decided not to go ahead with the helmet. i still feel bad and kind of want to do it, but kevin thinks it will just continue to slowly get better, and if he looks weird then at least he will have hair to cover it. and hats i suppose too. i just feel bad that he is going to look funny the rest of his life.
sound:
- e can make all kinds of noise. he has recently learned how to make the sound of kissing. don't know where he learned that from. we don't blow kisses or anything.
- he also has learned in the past month how to blow raspberries, and he smacks his lips together when he likes a certain food.
movement:
- still no crawling! but he tries to go from sitting position into somewhat of a crawling position and then usually just face plants and ends up on his tummy. he has either forgotten how to roll over, or refuses to do it when on his tummy. maybe he is concentrating hard on how he should be crawling.
- elliot has learned how to pull himself up to the standing position on his favorite toy the "ballcano" like volcano, but for balls.

-elliot will eat almost anything! except eggs. hates those. and the odd bitter thing. i gave him some blackberries tonight and i think he got a sour one because he spit it right out. i don't really know if i am giving him good foods for babies or not, but he just basically just mooches whatever i am eating.
-his favorite foods currently are coconut ice-cream, veggie straws, and bread of any type. he really enjoys junk food i suppose.
sleep:
-he is really hit and miss with bedtime. naps during the day are perfect, but sometimes he will be complete weenie in the middle of the night and just be wide awake for no reason. (maybe all that coconut icecream after supper?) i just bring him into our bed and ignore him until he goes back to sleep and i can transport him back into his pig pen.
odds and ends:
elliot is deathly afraid of sneezing people, but loves when you blow your nose
he is also terrified of flushing toilets in public restrooms, but sometimes i let him sit on my lap while i am in the whiz palace and he loves taking the toilet paper off the roll for me. so helpful.
he has almost cracked his fourth tooth! right now he grinds hit bottom two against his solo diente on top.
bathtime has become a dangerous endeavor. he really has no concern for his own life whatsoever so he just launches himself head first into the tub chasing after toys. i need to have two hands on him at all times when we are in the bath. i have to face him away from the faucet during his bath or he desperately tries to smother the thing all over with his tongue. at the end of his bath he gets a special 'treat'. he gets to unplug the stopper and play with the suction of water draining. coolest thing ever for a 9 month old. i dont think that will go out of style soon.
here are some photos of him playing after his 9 month photo was taken.

hey mum, look what i can do! |
on a whole we are loving to hand out with this little friend. he can be pretty frustrating of course, but super fun as well. before he was born kevin said to me "you need to have a baby so you can have someone to play with all the time" i thought about that last night when we were playing games mimicking each other. he is so fun to have around and i am glad i made a human to hang out with me.
