Life has slowed down now that winter seems to finally be here. ( i say finally very cautiously as I know most people reading this don't find winter to be their favorite time)
Kevin and I have taken to be more indoorsy and not venturing out very often. We are watching more movies and of course our television shows and just having a good quiet time at home.
My newest project to work on is a beautiful rocking chair that I bought for $10.00 of Kijiji. It has a rather ugly seat cover, but I plan to recover it with a new fabric line I am in love with. Its a shame that my craft skills concerning fabrics is limited to stapling and fabric adhesive. I am also going to be covering a lampshade in the same line. It's the Heirloom collection by Joel Dewberry. I wil be sure to post my before and after pictures after the material arrives and the chair is complete.
We are also planning to get me a pair of skates so we can hop over to the rink that is across the street often this winter and perhaps get some fresh air/excercise. We've been doing work out videos in the basement, but there is something about being outside that makes me able to play for a lot longer than I can stand the Billy Blanks tapes.
I am going to be making Ginger Snaps tonight. I made the dough last night, and I have found the longer you let the dough refridgerate the longer the cookies stay soft. These ones however I will be freezing to give away in packages to my friends and neighbors. If you have any suggestions of christmas time baking that I could do- let me know your ideas! I am always looking for more. So far we have fudge, pecan butter tarts, and ginger snaps for our packages, but I'd LOVE a good recipe for shortbread cookies, or other small treats.
I will be blogging more often as the Christmas season approaches and as I come up with more DIY projects for my cosy nights at home. One that I am half finished is I took a window screen, and some wire and strung up the covers of our favorite punk rock bands for our music "studio" we have going on in the basement. Stay tunes for some pictures of that!
Happy November!
Hey Rachael!
